InDisk™ 1.4 is used to "catalog" the contents of a disk, and print the "catalog" of the disk and a folding pattern onto a 8-1/2 x 11 sheet of plain paper (with one keystroke). The sheet of paper is then folded into a sleeve which shows the contents of the disk in hierarchal order and protects the disk. The listing, by name, along with the date, time of last modification and file size is shown as if all folders were open. (InDisk™ does not actually open the folders or augment your disk in anyway; it just shows it like that.) This neat labeless-labeler provides a fast and easy way of labeling all your disks for filing or for sending to another person. It eliminates the age old problem of messy handwritten disk labels. InDisk™ Ver 1.5 (to be released by Jan 1, 1997) will catalog over 250 items on a ZIP disk and print a label which will fit into the ZIP disk case. INSTALLATION
Drag-and-drop the InDisk™ labeler icon and readme file into the folder of your choice on your Mac. We hope you'll use the program very often, so you might want to consider leaving the program on your desktop, or putting an alias of the program in your Apple Menu Items or start-up folder.
RUNNING THE PROGRAM
Double-click on the InDisk™ labeler icon to start the program. A status window is shown on the screen, and informs you that the program is waiting for you to insert a floppy disk. First time users must choose Page Setup to configure your printer. Be sure to orient the page for "landscape" or "rotated" orientation. If you have more than 30 items on your floppy disk, you may want to scale the text. You can usually get 35 items on an InDisk™ Sleeve at 100%; usually about 100 items at 40%. You can enter any value from 25% to 100%. Use Page Setup whenever you need to change the scaling factor. You don't need to use Page Setup every time you print a sleeve. InDisk™ remembers your settings until you change them, or change printers in the Chooser.
Insert the disk that you wish to catalog. An index of the contents and the print dialog box will appear on the screen. Respond to the print dialog(s). The program will warn if the orientation is not set to "rotated" ("landscape"). The program will also warn if the scaling factor is more than 100%. After warnings are resolved (if there are any), click on the PRINT button to begin printing a sleeve. The status window will inform you as the program prints the sleeve.
When InDisk™ is finished, it will automatically eject the floppy disk, and wait for the next floppy disk. You can quickly and effortlessly catalog and print sleeves for as many disks as you need. When you are finished select "Quit" from the File menu or send it to the back by bringing up the desktop or another program.

FIRST TIME DEMO USERS PLEASE NOTE
Since you have a limted number of printouts (10) don't waste them. On your first printout please check the distance of Fold # 1 from the left edge. Use the nudge command (as instructed below) to correct if necessary. On your second printout enter 4 or 5 for the number of copies in the print window. This will allow you to get the hang of making the folds. We hope you like InDisk and will want to register. Please see the instructions at the end of this readme.

NUDGE
For floppy disks sleeves Fold #1 should be located 3-1/2 inches from the left edge of the paper. Adjust the position of the folds by using the Nudge option from the File menu. If you measure greater than 3-1/2" decrease the distance by using a negative (-) value in the X nudge box. If you measure less than 3-1/2" increase the distance by using a positive (+) value in the X nudge box. Also Fold #4 should be about 1 inch from the bottom edge.
Caveat
InDisk™ only catalogs and prints sleeves for floppy disks if InDisk™ is running in the foreground. The program does nothing when running in the background. However, if you insert a floppy disk when the program is in the background, and then bring the program to the foreground, the disk will be properly cataloged and a sleeve may be printed. The caveat is this: If a file on the disk was opened by some other program while InDisk™ was in the background, then after the InDisk™ is brought to the foreground and catalogs the disk, it may not be able to eject the disk properly (because there is a file open on the disk). The best advice is be sure all files or programs on a disk are closed before bringing up InDisk™
FOLDING THE SLEEVE
It's just three folds and tuck in the flap! You'll only need to follow these directions once or twice. After that the folding will be intuitive.

Run you fingernail across the fold to make a sharp crease.
FOLD #1
Fold along line 1. Then, lay the sheet face down on a flat surface so that fold #1 is face up and towards you as shown below.
FOLD #2
Grasp the edge farthest away from you and carefully fold over on top of the first panel, even and square with fold #1. It should look like this:
FOLD #3
Rotate the sheet around as shown in fig. (A). You should now see the #3 fold and "4 FOLD HERE THEN TUCK FLAP IN" at the top of the sleeve. (B) Bring the bottom edge up to and even with line 4 so that you make the third fold. Run your finger nail or a pen along the fold to make it sharp.
FOLD #4
Fold the top half inch flap of the sleeve along line 4 so it's now on top of the sleeve. You should be able to read the copyright notice.
THE TUCK
By now you should be as excited as I am! Here's the hard part read carefully. I'm counting on you to do a good job! Hold the sleeve in your left hand with flap up and disk name towards the left. Lift up the flap and gently squeeze the sleeve causing it to bow open.
Insert a finger from your right hand into the pocket formed by the left most edge (this is the panel with the disk name on it) and the second edge. Gently squeeze the sleeve some more causing it to bow open. FINALLY, press one corner of the flap into the pocket and then the other. Your done!!! You should have a nice square sleeve the size and shape of a disk.
NOTE: The first time you insert a disk your sleeve will be slightly tight.
You can adjust the "tightness" of the fit by using the nudge option (SEE NUDGE INSTRUCTIONS ABOVE). Tighten by decrease the x value and loosen by increasing the x value. Positive and negative numbers may be used.
LOGOS
Yes you can now have your COLOR logo appear at the top of the sleeve. Here's how. Begin by constructing your logo in any drawing program that can save in PICT format. Freehand, Clarisworks, Mac Draw etc. The logo must be no larger than .5" high by 3.0" wide. This is logo "window that InDisk uses. Position you logo as you want it to appear. If you want a boarder around it construct it in you document. You can not position or size anything in the logo window from within InDisk. If, for example you have a square logo and you want it to appear in the center construct a white box 3" x 1/2" as a background (or use a color if you wish) position your logo in the center of the box. Your ready to place the logo into InDisk
1. Save the file in the PICT format. Copy it into the scrapbook for future reference. (This insures that you have a valid PICT)
2 Open InDisk. Copy the logo from the scrap book (This will place the logo on the clipboard) Pull down the file menu and select the logo option.
3. Press the paste button and your logo should appear in the preview window.
4. Press the "Show Logo" button. You can hide the logo at any time by pressing the "Hide Logo" button. The logo will remain in InDisk but not be printed. When you again want to use your logo simply press "Show Logo"
--------------------------------------------HOW TO REGISTER-------------------------------------------
You will need a registration code if you wish to continue to use InDisk after the demo version is used up. Each copy of InDisk has a unique serial number which begins with SN and letter and continues with an eight digit number. Example: Serial # A12345678. Write down this number (Please be sure to copy it EXACTLY.)
You can register via the Internet by going to our home page located at

On our home page click the go to register page and enter your information. In a few hours you will receive a registration code by e-mail. Startup the program go to the "About InDisk" window (under the apple menu). Press the register button and enter the exact number that was sent to you. If successful you will get a "Thank You for Registering" response. If not please contact us at the email address below. If you wish to register by FAX please FAX to the number below.
When notified of an upgrade please go to our home page at http://members.aol.com/indisk/
Click on the download the Mac demo. After copying the new version to your hard drive open the program. For registered users the start up screen should show the same serial number as your old application or go to the "About InDisk" under the apple menu (when your in the program). Press the register button and enter your same registration code. The new version will convert from demo mode to a live version. After you are satified with the new version you may trash the old one.
UNSTALL/INSTALL
You've probably noticed that if you copy a registered InDisk to another computer it reverts to the demo mode. Your user license is for use on one machine. Additional copies must also be registered via our home page. You can of course use it on any machine you choose, but to move it you need to follow these simple instructions.
1. Have a blank formated floppy handy (unlocked of course).
2. Quit the InDisk program
2. Insert the a floppy disk into the drive and open its' window. Drag the program icon from your hard drive into the floppy disk window.
3. Double click the program icon on the floppy, a dialog box will open asking you if you wish to uninstall, click uninstall.
4. Drag the floppy icon into the trash
5. Insert the floppy into the disk drive of the machine you wish to install to.
6. Double click the program icon on the floppy, you will be asked if you want to install InDisk on this machine. Click install
7. Now simply drag the program icon from the floppy to location of you choice on your hard drive. Eject the floppy disk, your done.
